XiO Scada System
XiO SCADA Control System - Wastewater (CI 207)
The District Operations Team is currently installing XiO Cloud Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Control Systems at all 7 sewer stations within the Channel Islands Beach CSD service area.
What is SCADA?
SCADA is an acronym for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. SCADA systems are designed to remotely monitor, control , and gather data in real time for plant or equipment operations. These systems are commonly used in the operation of water and wastewater utilities.
Why the need for SCADA?
When dealing with wastewater, especially in a coastal community, there is no room for error. A single lift station overflow can have major consequences. That in mind, we have decided install the XiO Cloud SCADA Control Systems at all 7 sewer stations in the District. This system allows our operators to have a view into the lift stations and provides advanced warning if there is an issue. Here are a few features of this system.
· Alarms - Powerful, advanced alarms alert our operators when there's an issue. It's like an alarm beacon in your pocket. If a lift station is experiencing an issue, our operators receive an e-mail and text message so they can take action before it becomes an issue.
· Reduce Labor Costs - This XiO SCADA system allows staff to remotely monitor and control the pumps. This means operators can focus their attention where it is needed and avoid unnecessary trips to remote sites.
· Monitor Pump Performance - With XiO we can track our pump's performance over time and stay ahead of maintenance issues before they become a problem. If a pump fails to start we will know instantly through an e-mail and/or text message.
